Where is Tresco?
Tresco is the second largest of the Isles of Scilly, found just 28 miles
off the southwest peninsula of England. As the islands are very small
and surrounded by sea they have a climate much milder than the mainland
with frosts rarely experienced. They are unlike anywhere else in the UK.
How do I get to Tresco?
You have 3 travel options:
Helicopter direct
Probably the quickest way to get to Tresco is to fly direct on a
helicopter from Penzance. Penzance heliport is close to the mainline railway station and
First Great Western often do inclusive deals
to the islands.
British International Helicopters fly several times per day (Mon-Sat).
Plane then boat
Skybus operate a number of routes from the southwest of England to the
nearby island of St Mary's. You can fly from Bristol, Exeter, Newquay or Land's End.
Air Southwest
offer direct flights to Newquay from London Gatwick and London City airports.
When you arrive at St.Mary's you will then need to catch a boat
across to Tresco (about 30 minutes journey).
Ferry then ferry
The cheapest option is to catch the Scillonian (ferry) from Penzance
on the 2h40m journey to the nearby island of St.Mary's. Once at
St.Mary's you can transfer to a smaller boat that'll take you across to
Tresco.
